St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church
Adult Activities
TGIF
TGIF is a multigenerational approach to faith formation which recognizes that growing in our life of faith is a life-long process. Faith formation is really about developing our relationship with Jesus Christ through the Church, Scared Scriptures, Traditions, Sacraments, and the community of believers. Therefore, all parishioners are encouraged to participate in this program of faith formation.
RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is our catechetical program to bring non-baptized and non Catholic Christians into the life of the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist). It also serves to assist adult Catholics who wish to grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith. Its approach is pastoral, catechetical, and liturgical. Those entering into the Church celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
ADORE
Adore ministry is to connect young adults to a relationship with God, the life of the Church, and with one another. Adore Ministry of St. John’s is to draw young adults of our parish to speak loudly and bolding for the Glory of god. Adore will meet once a month, by coming together to worship, to learn more about Jesus through short bible studies, and serving the needs of the community. Adore is once a month on Sundays 6:30-8:00pm.
Bible Study Programs:
Weekly Bible Study programs are offered throughout the year. Please contact the Parish Office for subjects, dates, and times of current Bible Study gatherings.
Parent Life
A monthly gathering of parents who focus upon developing their life of faith and providing mutual support and encouragement as they raise their children in the Catholic faith. Evening include a catechetical teaching, small group discussion, and prayer.
RENEW
An international program that seeks to enliven the faith of Catholics through a small group process of learning and sharing the Catholic faith. Small group sessions are based on the teachings of the Church and reflections on Sacred Scripture that apply to the daily lives of Catholics living in the world today. Through small groups, parishioners develop their relationship with God and the whole community of believers. In this way, the whole parish and the Church are truly renewed in the grace of Jesus Christ.
Holy Matrimony
Couples preparing for Marriage meet individually with the pastor to review the teachings of the Church, develop a deeper prayer life, and review the FOCCUS instrument (couple communication). They also must attend a Diocesan sponsored Natural Family Planning Seminar and an Engaged Encounter Weekend Retreat prior to their wedding.
